Every Car Donation

October 2024- Boche and Family

Boche arrived in the United States from Sudan seven years ago with his family, including three siblings. An honor student and member of ROTC in high school, Boche works and attends CSU. He is another one of the real standouts from Re:Source Cleveland.

September 2024- Neema and Family

The oldest of 7 siblings, Neema works full time as a home health aide and attends school full time with a 4.0 gpa. Neema has been involved with Re:Source Cleveland for several years.

Car #20- Matiullah and Family- August 2024

Matiullah arrived in the United States in 2024 with his wife and four children, after leaving Afghanistan in 2021 and spending three years in refugee camps. Not only does he need the car to get a job, but he can also use the car to take his kids to school, activities, appointments, etc.

Car #19- The Akhtar Family July 2024

Mr. Akhtar is pictured here with his donated car. He arrived here in March of 2024 with his family of six, kids aged 3, 7, 9, and 10. The first thing most families do upon arrival is buy a car in order to get a job. He borrowed money from friends and family, but his car was stolen soon after. With the donated car, he was able to move his family to a nicer neighborhood and work.

Car #18- Neema- April 2024

Unfortunately, this car was a lemon and broke down with very serious issues within a few weeks of ownership. We were able to get Neema a different car a few months later for car #21.

Car #17- Asadik- March 2024

Asadik uses his car to look after his family from Sudan, which includes eight siblings, his mother, and his wife and two year old daughter. He works full time and attends college classes part time.

Car #16- Blandine- February 2024

Blandine is a single mother who works full time as a case worker while she pursues a Master’s Degree in Criminology.

“I would like to thank the donors from the bottom of my heart for their donation. The vehicle is not just a German manufactured vehicle with a sunroof and leather seats ( which are perfect for my messy toddler lol) but it is  a form of hope on wheels. It was the rainbow at the end of the storm when it seemed like the rain would never stop.”

Car #15- January 2024- Fatima and her family

Fatima and her husband had to wake up every day at 5:00am in order to take two buses to get to work. The kids were on their own for school. This car has acted as a life changing asset.

“My youngest son always was interested in joining after school activities, and due to not having a car, I was not able to enroll him I'm any activities. Every since i got the car my son who is a 5th grader has joined basketball, and his dream game Squash!”

Car #14- November 2023- Daniel

Daniel received this car as a donation from the fleet of the Ursuline Sisters. He used the car to take himself, his sister, and a friend to school every day. He also used the car to pursue photography and gig work. His family had moved to Dayton, and he is able to visit them during school break to see them.

Car #13- November of 2023- Panchuk Family

This family of four was struggling as recent arrivals from Ukraine when they were able to get a job. Mrs. Panchuk called the car a “miracle.” Crucially, Mr. Panchuk was able to start employment as a direct result of receiving the car.

Car #12- Fall of 2023 - Private

We kept this car donation private due to safety concerns. But we got this car to a struggling single mother.

Car #11- November 2023- Horot Family

Three members of the large Horot family were able to get jobs as a result of this car as they worked to start a life in the US after arriving from Ukraine. “We couldn't even dream that we would be lucky enough to get a car! For them, the best part of the car was being able to take the whole family to church together.

Car #10- September 2023- Ukranian Families

Two families recently arrived from Ukraine received this car to begin starting a new life with work, school, and English classes. “We couldn't even dream that we would be lucky enough to get a car! When we were informed that we were given a Toyota Avalon, our happiness knew no end!”

Car #9- March 2023- Nawale

Nawale is the eldest of a family of ten from Sudan. The father works from Sunday through Friday as a truck driver, and the family had no source of transportation during the week. The car also helps Nawale get to Tri-C and clients for her own small business. You can read more about her story here.

Car #8- September 2022- Mohammad and Family

Mr. Mohammad took care of his family, and was able to go to work, take his kids to school, and handle the day to day like doctor’s appointments. “I thank everybody involved in this donation for making my life easier”

Car #7- November 2022- Faqiri Family

Mr. Faqiri was the sole provider of a family of five with three kids under the age of five. Before the car, he had to ride his bike to work 90 minutes each way, including in the snow, and he had to walk to and from the grocery store for his family. “Me and my whole family were so happy and couldn’t believe that we got a car.”

Car #6 - Spring of 2022- Private

We kept this donation private for safety reasons. But we got a really nice car with a blue book value of $9000 to a struggling family who had recently arrived from Afghanistan. Three of the five children had genetic disabilities, so it was a huge help.

Car #5- April 2022- Qazizada Family

This car helped transform the life of the Qazizada family. Mr. Qazizada said, “I just want to thank everyone who was involved in getting this car to me and my family, and appreciate all the great and amazing work you all do helping all the needy families like me.""

Car #4- Ms. Nasiri - January 2022

Ms. Nasiri had arrived in Cleveland from Afghanistan by herself. She was struggling to get by in Cleveland when she received her car, and she was able to resume her studies in college because of the car. You can read more about her story here.

Car #3- Fawad- August of 2021

Fawad had recently arrived from Afghanistan when he received his car. We followed up two years later, and he still had the car. He said that “The car brought stability to my life,” as he built a new life and took care of his family.

Car # 2- July 2021- Asma

Asma had recently arrived from Afghanistan. She lost her husband in the war, and she was looking after her children and mother. She used the car to get a job and get started in life. She remarked, “Here a car is as necessary as a pair of sandals.”

Car #1- Marcus - Summer of 2018

Marcus got this started by taking the Scion XA and changing his life. He picked up extra hours at work, got a part time weekend job, volunteered with a nonprofit, and threw himself into recovery because of the car. You can read more about Marcus here.
